Handara Gates is one of Bali’s most iconic photo spots, known for its towering traditional Balinese split gate (Candi Bentar) set against lush green hills. Originally the entrance to a golf resort, it has become a symbolic location for visitors looking to experience Bali’s unique blend of nature and culture.

Come here in the morning, so you can see the sun go up behind the mountains. It can be perfectly combined with a sunrise shooting at Pura Ulun Danu Beratan, because the Beratan lake is about 2-3 minutes away.

For a classic look, shoot from ground level to frame the gate with the mountains in the background. For a unique view, use a drone to capture the symmetry and garden layout from above. Early morning gives the best light and fewer crowds. Including a person in traditional dress can enhance the cultural mood.

Best visited by car, you can park on the side of the road. If you come on the scooter, there is parking available at the cashier.

Located about 2.5 hours from Ubud or 1.5 hours from Canggu, Handara Gates is easy to reach by car or scooter. A small photography fee is charged at the entrance. Parking is available just nearby. Best visited in the morning to avoid queues and capture soft lighting conditions.
